Timothy J. Burke practices in the firm’s business litigation group. He has been practicing law for over 26 years. He has extensive experience litigating complex civil lawsuits, including complex class actions, throughout California and the United States in both state and federal courts. While doing so he has recovered over $100 million for his clients, including multiple eight figure recoveries. He has represented individuals and corporations in a wide variety of lawsuits, including lawsuits alleging unfair competition, fraud, R.I.C.O violations, breach of contract, employment law violations, securities fraud, consumer rights violations and breaches of fiduciary duty.
After graduating high school, Mr. Burke enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was trained to repair aviation electronics, specifically the equipment on Navy aircraft used to hunt submarines. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service repairing mail sorting equipment. While at the Postal Service, Mr. Burke also served as a union steward for the American Postal Workers Union at the South Boston General Mail Facility. While working full-time for the Postal Service, Mr. Burke attended Suffolk University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in accounting. After graduation, Mr. Burke headed to Los Angeles to attend U.C.L.A. School of Law. He was awarded his J.D. degree from U.C.L.A. School of Law in 1995. Since becoming an attorney, Mr. Burke has primarily been a civil litigator, both at law firms and in-house for private corporations.
Mr. Burke is admitted to practice in all California state courts, and U.S District Courts for the Districts of Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, the District of Colorado, and the Northern District of Illinois, along as before the Second and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Mr. Burke and his wife Tracy, also an attorney, enjoy traveling and camping in their motorhome with their pack of rescue dogs.
