(San Jose, CA) November 26, 2003 -Wade & Silverstein announced Friday that it will become a member of the Charles Houston Bar Association. The Charles Houston Bar Association (“CHBA”), is an affiliate of the National Bar Association and it represents the interests of African American lawyers, judges and law students throughout Northern California. Founded in 1955, CHBA is committed to working within the African American community to facilitate access to the justice system, and to promote equal protection under the law. Amiel L. Wade, President & Managing Partner of Wade & Silverstein, has accepted an invitation to attend the association’s Annual Gala that will be held on December 6, 2003 at the Oakland Hilton Hotel. During the gala the association will celebrate its year of achievement and honor outstanding African American attorneys and judges as well as those individuals and corporations who have made significant contributions to its community. The proceeds from the gala serve to fund the many charitable programs and law student scholarships that CHBA offers. Past speakers and honorees of this event include Congressman Ronald V. Dellums, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, the late Justice Allan Broussard, the Reverend Cecil Williams of Glide Memorial Church, Joseph Marshall of the Omega Boys Club, Mablean Ephriam (“Judge Mablean” of television’s “Divorce Court”), and Harold Pope, President of the National Bar Association. ” We think that the Charles Houston Bar Association is performing a tremendous service to the African American Community,” noted Wade. “This organization has a plethora of programs geared to reaching out and assisting the development of African American community members.
